Trauma Therapy for RCMP & Veterans Affair Canada members

You’ve seen things most people never will. You’ve handled calls that don’t leave when the shift ends. You’ve pushed through cumulative stress, critical incidents, and the pressure to stay sharp no matter what.

    And lately, it’s catching up.

The constant edge in your body. The anxiety and thoughts you can’t shut off. The nightmares. The broken sleep. The feeling of being overwhelmed by things that never used to shake you.

In law enforcement culture, you’re trained to manage crisis — not talk about how it affects you. You’re expected to be composed, capable, resilient. Asking for help can feel uncomfortable.

    But here’s the truth:

What you’re experiencing is not weakness. It’s the cumulative impact of trauma on a nervous system that has been in survival mode for years.

    And survival mode is exhausting.

    Counselling That Understands First Responders

My experience working with first responders has allowed me to understand the culture, the expectations, and the internal pressure to “handle it.”

My approach is about helping you become more resilient to the demands of your job.

Using a combination of education, skill-based strategies and EMDR, I help officers:

    • Reduce intrusive memories and nightmares
    • Improve sleep
    • Regulate intense emotions instead of suppressing them
    • Decrease anxiety and chronic hypervigilance
    • Build confidence in handling difficult situations at work and in life

Many first responders were never given the tools to regulate what trauma does to the body and brain. In our work together, you’ll learn practical skills to face challenging situations without becoming overwhelmed by them.

This is about increasing your capacity — not taking it away.

    You will learn how to:

    • Understand how trauma is impacting your nervous system
    • Shift out of fight-or-flight when it’s no longer needed
    • Process unresolved incidents so they stop replaying
    • Feel steady, grounded, and more in control

Clients describe me as calm, understanding, and steady — especially when things feel intense. I tailor our sessions to your pace, your readiness, and your specific experiences.

Healing does not mean becoming softer.

It means becoming stronger in a sustainable way.

Strength Isn’t Silence. Strength Is Taking Action.

If you have been at your job for some time and are starting to feel the cumulative weight of what you are carrying, you don’t have to wait until things get worse.

    You can:

    • Stop reliving calls.
    • Sleep through the night.
    • Walk into work feeling steady instead of bracing.
    • Feel present with your loved ones again.
    • Trust your ability to handle difficult situations without being consumed by them.

You’ve shown up for others throughout your career. Now it’s time to invest in your own resilience.
