How does counselling work?
Everyone’s journey is unique, but the road map looks something like this:
It begins with an understanding of your symptoms, and why they are showing up (usually to let you know that something is not working and needs to change). Once we have a good sense of what is going on, I will create a customized counselling plan, which will include a combination of:
- gaining self-awareness of your emotions, thoughts, reactions, and body
- learning the coping skills and strategies to respond in a more helpful way.
Throughout the process, you begin to relate to yourself differently, giving yourself permission to pause and take care of your own needs.
As a guide and companion in your journey, my job is to equip you with tools, help you get clarity on your life, and to challenge you in places that would ultimately be beneficial to you.
Some examples of transformation include:
- Being able to handle challenging interactions without feeling overwhelmed
- Focused at work and accomplishing important tasks
- Seeing situations from a more objective point-of-view
- Feeling calm and confident
- Having the energy to do the things that matter to you the most
